Celebrating Success

I enrolled my daughter in North Hills CDC in March 2011. Before we started North Hills, my daughter was practically non-verbal. She did not have a diagnosis at the time of enrollment but the teachers, staff, and therapist took my daughter in and helped her to blossom. In one year, her language skills increased from that of a 1 year old to that of a 2 year old. She was closing the gap. Today, she knows her alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors. She has participated in a play as the "Big Bad Wolf", she communicates with her friends and teachers, and she communicates her wants, needs, and love.

As a parent, hearing that your child has autism is difficult because there are so many unknowns. We hear the horror stories about schools that push our children aside because they are afraid or are ill equipped to teach our children. I have not experienced that at North Hills. The therapists, teachers, and support staff are friendly, welcoming and generous with their expertise. In the two years that we have been at North Hills, the teachers, therapists and I have we have celebrated my daughter's successful progress and together we have worked to make sure that the success continues. I have developed great friendships with staff and other parents that I hope will last a long time.
